Our growing Sunday School consists of three classes with three very dedicated Sunday School teachers and Sunday School Superintendent. The children begin in the worship service, hear a Children’s Message, and then depart for their classes around 10:15am. In addition to learning about the Christian faith, our Sunday School sponsors a NEADS dog, an adorable black lab puppy, Bella!
We also have the largest Confirmation Class in ten years this year. The youngsters in this class learn about how to read the Bible, the basics of the teaching of the biblical books, general church history and the history of our denomination, the United Church of Christ, including our form of church government, our own particular congregation, and are involved in opportunities for service in the local congregation and the wider church, all of which lead to church membership. They participate in our own worship services as lay readers and at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Worcester, where Pastor Gary leads a service once a month. Our children also participate in a joint Youth Choir with First Baptist Church and a joint ecumenical Vacation Bible School with First Baptist Church and Wesley Methodist Church during the summer which has consistently attracted upwards of 70 children and several dozen adult volunteers. The Sunday School also sponsors throughout the year suppers, bake sales, and other fundraising activities, as well as go on recreational outings together with the Sunday School staff and chaperones.
